820-3228 Mac Mini with a short (on CPU rail)

Hi,

I have 2 boards with apparently the same issue.
Short on a rail where most of the shorted CAPs are next to the CPU.
I really get a 0V drop to ground, not 0.05 or something (I know that the CPU rail has a low resistance to ground)

Since the schematics doesn't exist for these Mac Minis... does anyone has experienced that issue? hopefully it is the same caps or component which fails ;-)

Thanks!

Hello Duke,

One turns on with the fan blasting but obviously no CPU vcore (no chime).
Voltage on the shorted caps is a nice flat 0V.

On the other one, it doesn't even start at all.

I have removed already all the big black caps but it seems it has to be a small one or the CPU now...

Anyway, I might try it when I have spare time, for fun. ;-)
