A1398 / 820-3332 RAM Upgrade

I have this customer that is asking me to upgrade the ram on his A1398 Macbook, I have a motherboard of the same model (820-3332) with 16 GB, can I change them to his actual mother board? Can this be done? Do I have to remember the position of every chip or is it the same if I just reball the memory chips in any order? Thanks!
