This is A2141, board 820-01700-A. Device shows battery icon(indicating critical low battery) but USBc is taking 20V 0A. I have a dead short to ground on PPVBAT_G3H_CHGR_REG(measured at C7502:1), but injecting 1v is not pulling any current. Next steps?
"I have a dead short to ground on PPVBAT_G3H_CHGR_REG"
Impossible, as your machine works.
Allow 10-15s after any power is removed, before checking in diode mode, or ohm scale!
Be sure battery screw is tightened enough.
Also use 96/140W charger.
OK, to clarify, the machine doesn't actually power on, what I meant was that if you open the screen, it shows the Red battery icon in the center.
To add to this, the device has been sitting for some time, battery disconnected when I first posted this thread. After reading your response, I then went back, verfiied 0 ohms ground to C7502:1 (and the other three caps in that row). I switched to diode mode, red probe to ground and checked at those caps, and it was 0. I held the probe on the cap for a few seconds, then it started climbing from 0 to .391 where it stopped. I then rechecked in ohms mode and now the "short" is gone. Using apple 140w charger btw.
