I replaced a mux chip on a A2141,image on external but no image on the MacBook lcd
Is it possible for mux to be bad or badly soldered and have image on external?
Hello, sorry for not providing context.
It’s a liquid damaged MacBook.
backlight shorted to mux, mux was blown and was shorting one of the power lines supplying it.
Replaced it and the machine is working. It’s a laptop I bought in November, as a repair project.
There were quite a few problems with it.
I struggled with it but I replaced the connector and the receptacle on the logic board.
There was also corrosion on the tcon board, replaced that but I didn’t know if new tcon was working, it arrived from eBay not secured properly and slightly bent. I’m currently thinking about buying whole new lcd assembly and replacing that.
So there’s my question to be sure that I’m doing the right thing at the moment
I also replaced components around touchbar connector and touchbar connector itself.
I agree, I was just wondering if there’s a possibility of mux chip not working but still having image on external.
I went through the schematics but I wasn’t able to understand if the mux chip is also responsible for providing image to external.
Just trying to make sure that if I spend 600-800$ on a new screen it will work
Oh I see, thanks man. It might be possible that I haven’t soldered the gmux properly. Is there a way to check for signals with a multimeter to see if the multiplexer is doing what it’s supposed to?
I forgot, sorry.

I’m not really able to afford an oscilloscope atm, I only have a Uni-t UT61D multimeter.
I really appreciate the help, thank you
