A2179 820-01958 Not turning on, 20V 0.06A - DFU Restore error 4013

Read around that it could be a SSD failure. Anyone come across this?
Gets deceted in Recovery mode, Did Revive and Restore, same error.

How to push on DFU mode? With bare bore on desk, SOC_FORCE_DFU pad to ground is not triggering it.

You must play with power button and FORCE_DFU.
Is not always easy to enter DFU mode.
First force the board off pressing power 5s.

Managed to push to DFu mode. System restore goes through Installing system and fails.

Different progress on each attempt, once even show a loading apple logo with slight fan spin attempt and cut off.


This board has no sighs of any liquid or corrosion.

You should try more times.
Once, I got a machine working even when DFU didn't complete.
It never showed an error, just stuck in last step; however, machine started working.
Be sure to have charged battery and good trackpad connected.

YEah battery charged as it stopped pulling charging current, trackpad seems ok with no corrosiopn.

tried about 20 times now, mainly comes with this error:


RestoreOS device removed before restored completed [com.apple.MobileDevice.MobileRestore – 0xFAA (4010)]

Could it be failing SSD loosing its mind?
This is 2019 model and comes with 2x256gb ssd,
I have 2018 A2179 with 2x128GB ssd. Would that be a direct swap or do I need a programmer for the ssd nands?

Only NANDs from same board model can be replaced directly.

Could it be NAND issue? Connected without pushing to DFU it comes as Recovery in Apple Configurator. But either ways is not completig restore nor revive.

Looking at the logs its keep repeating this error
