MacBook Air 2018 A1932 restore error 1008F and external boot is locked

Hi,

I have an A1932 machine here that does not boot to OS. Recovery gives an error: 1008F and external boot is locked. What is my best solution?

Did you try DFU restore?

Not yet but I was thinking about it and hoping that maybe there is another solution. For DFU restore do I need the same A1932 model or A1708 and A1707 will do too?

A1707/8 should work, but must have Catalina installed...
