Hi there,

We have a MacBook that does not boot correctly. It says The version on the macOS on the selected disk needs to be reinstalled. We need to get the data off form the MacBook before erasing it. The thing is whatever we do on that MacBook the pink screens flashes once and the MacBook tries to boot again. Have you faced with this issue? Can you advise what we can do? Thank you,

Try first to enter into target disk mode.

If not possible, then bring it to Apple authorized worksop.
They can try data recovery in DFU mode.

It does not go to disk target mode. I have tried a lot. Do you know what the apple authorized workshop has that we don't have that they can recover data in DFU mode?

Also we are not owner of the laptop. Can we still take it there? Will they do data recovery?

Connection to Apple server is required for data recovery in DFU mode.
One friend also said the machine should be deleted from Apple account first.
He offered this service for me for 300€.
I understood that charges much more from direct clients...
