Hi guys,

I have this A1707 with a freezing issue. I installed a new OS and checked the board no liquid or anything on it. Sometimes it works fine all day, but sometimes when I wanna make a restart it will freeze. Any ideas?

Thanks

Can we know what exact board do you have there?

You should try known good battery and clean ME BIOS.
Also check all SMC_LID signals.

The board is 820-00928. I noticed when plugged in on an external monitor it restarts and shuts down every time. Now i just plugged in the charger again but only on it's own lcd and once i click shut down the color spinning ball gets stuck and nothing happens and it's not completely frozen

Has the same behavior with external monitor on both left/right ports?

What happens if you click restart, instead of shut down?

All port external connections it's the same. Only takes the shut down and restart when it's connected externally. I also tried another LCD Assembly it's the same, gets stuck when on the internal screen. Temps are fine normal levels. When connected with external it has 2-3sec delay once pressed restart or shut down and it will continue not get stuck

You may have a graphics problem, on iGPU side.
When external monitor is connected, discrete GPU is enabled.

No way to disable Intel graphics.
You don't have problems with discrete GPU, as machine stays on with external monitor.

If works always correctly with both internal/external screens connected?

I tried a software to run only on discrete GPU but freezes sometimes when running on its LCD with the software on. When plugged in externally with the software running or not all works well. I advised the client and they will probably use it externally at the office. It's a pity the MacBook it's in excellent condition and not used a lot it's brand new.

Thanks for the assistance :)
