Hi All,

I have a board here which is pretty much want to smash into a million pieces, however the owner would not be happy if I went through with it.

So this board was originally liquid damage. This was repaired about 4 months ago. There where no issues after the repair.

It has been brought back in with it freezing at the login screen. This happens at the same exact moment, you can get the first letter of the password in.

Its the same with known good OSX installation. External keyboard and mouse is the same. The USB mouse lights up, so the board is alive.

The computer works fine in safe mode.

Any hints. I have already put through ultrasonic cleaner, and performed component isolation. Can't see any corrosion on the board.

Could this be BIOS related ?

This is going to suck. It is a hardware problem that crashes a driver, that's why it is working in safe mode. Is there anything in the system logs what causes the lock up?

It certainly does suck...

System log points to a "Sleep Wake Failure" I will get the full logs pasted here, in case someone has had a similar problem.

okay, just want to bring closure for this thread.
I chased my tail with this one to be honest, trying to look for a corroded component.
The fault was actually the retina screen. New screen and the laptop is working perfectly.
