I use a Hakko FX-951 soldering station with a FM-2027 iron and currently only have one tip at the moment...the bent conical T15-J02.

I am considering purchasing the FM-2032 micro pencil and the following tips today:
Tips for 2027
T15-ILS (conical) or T15-I

Tips for 2032
T30-I (conical)
T30-J (bent)

Hmm.... in my opinion no one is using a conical tip. I use a chisel tip. With it I also can solder fine pitch without problems. I think, you should watch Dave Jones (EEVBlog) Videos about soldering. In his videos, he explains why the conical tip is not so practical. Currently I'm trying to switch from the chisel top to a blade. It's a much larger tip with a massive thermal mass and it can keep a lot of solder on the blade.

Are you sure about the tip? It has a 5mm "blade", I think it's too much. I use the JBC C245-907 tip.

And the tip I'm trying to switch to is the C245-939 tip:

You might compare the secs to find the right tip from Hakko.

You have a good point. I do want to have the 5mm tip if I ever need to work on something with larger components than a MacBook board...but I think I'm gonna pick a 2mm chisel tip as well.
Thanks for the insight!

I started exactly like you with only one TIP T15-J02
Your next choice should be a knife TIP like T15-K / T15-KU
It has the ability to solder fine joints with the front tip but you can also use the side of the tip for bigger joints since it has a great thermal mass!
I like to work on QFN packages with it.

Furthermore you can buy used tips here:

The seller has al lot of used Tips in stock and he ships world wide :)
