SMC_LID is normal and working, return resistors all seem good too.
Joining EN and PWM still results in no backlight. I've ordered some replacement drivers, hopefully have them for Monday.
Thanks both!
Swapped DC-in, no difference. Actually... haven't tried adjusting under macOS, but assumed (perhaps foolishly) that the PRAM reset would auto-max the backlight. I'll boot into an OS and try that.
I've got an 820-00165 here that came in with no backlight, working perfectly apart from that (image is fine).
Only visible corrosion I could see was a tiny amount around U5110 which I cleaned up, it seemed entirely cosmetic.
D7701 - 8.6v both sides
XW7720 - 8.6v and clean
BKL_EN - 2.83v...
These were all OEM pulled from dead machines, but probably just sat on the shelf for way too long. I need to sort through this shit and test everything, it's just finding time...
820-3330 powering and working perfectly off the MagSafe charger, reporting the battery percentage OK, but not charging and no orange light (just green all the time). Machine dies immediately if MacSafe is pulled.
Board looks really clean, no signs of any liquid, area around U7000 is immaculate...
Board not powering following a claimed power surge. Everything above S4 that I can check exists and is in normal range, no PM_SLP_S4_L, voltage rails/readings as follows:
PPBUS_G3H - 12.56
PPBUS_S5_HS_COMPUTING - 12.56
PP3V42_G3H - 3.45
PP5V_S5 - 5.02
PP5V_S4 (and 3 and 0) - 0
PP3V3_S5 - 3.34...
MRI shows -127 for CPU Core PECI, everything else normal and in range.
No liquid damage, came in following a power surge, powers up normally, just full fan speed and very very slow to boot/run.
Components from the PECI circuit, let me know any other readings that would be useful:
