i did check j4002 really good under microscope. i just thinking that the same fan spin issue on 2 machines with the same SMC chip is kinda a common denominator. but won't know for sure until donor board arrives and hopefully has a good SMC.
thanks for the help guys. I'll keep you posted.
i recalled the smc to only end up with the same issue. i ordered a donor board to replace the SMC, then got another one of these that came in with liquid damage.. so i fixed it got it running but fans on high. took that SMC off and put on this board, now the machine turns on and runs but fan on...
resistance to ground on pin5 of u5110 0.466kohms. pin4 smc_manual_rst_L is kinda strange at 2.7v, pin 8 is at 3.3v, pin6 is 3.41v, pin1 and pin3 at 3.42v, pin 7 at 3.42v
working on a 820-00165 that was working yesterday just fine, left it plugged in to charge overnight and now no green light on charger.
pp3v43_g3h is present
smc_bc_acok is present
ppubus_g3h is low at 8.13v
smc_rest_L is way low at 1.014v

I'm thinking I've got a bad smc, even...
I went ahead and replace the connector and check for continuity like you said and everything was fine there. I did diode mode test on R0530 pin 1 reads out as 0.015v pin 2 0.030v. also noticed that i do get a pulse of 5v on L3800 then back to 0.0v. Not really sure whats going on with this board.
Shit wasn't thinking on that one. i retested with everything plugged in. ASD OS fails for
sensor group test- limit load test. error -1 unknown error
ASD EFI fails for
display port symbol error test - error- Lane count is zero
sensor temperature (th0a) -- SSD A sensor is reading below low...
okay i replaced the SMC now it boots but with fans on high and what looks like safe boot. i ran the on board diagnostics and it cam back with
"there maybe an issue with your trackpad". ref code NDR001
"There may be an issue with the SMC". Ref code PFM006
"There may be an issue with the power...
i was able to run ASD and yes it had a symbol error( but i didn't have a screen connected) SMC_LID area seems just fine looking. it also failed for 6 other issues also. the one i was thinking is not correct is
sensor- current (IO5R) 5V Rail Highside --- sensor reads below the low limit.
when i...
i was able to restore the green light, but no power on after replacing the ISL6259. I seem to remember one of louis videos where he was describing what different voltages on ppbus_g3h meant, but for the life of me couldn't find it again.
