Thanks for that. I have nothing further for this thread, looks like a "solved" fail candidate.

[SOLVED}820-3437 B-No image on screen, high fan spin & orange light on charger

There's a thermal sensor on trackpad.. If it's acting up and not communicating, the fan spins high. - Disregard as inaccurate! (see below)

    820-3462 Amber light

Sorry. To clarify... Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but these models have an orange light present whether there is a battery installed or not. The only time the light will hold solid green is WITH a battery when fully charged. The orange light alone the way you're describing isn't enough...

    820-3462 Amber light

the charger light is amber while charging battery or lacking one entirely by design on these. Edit*** therefore... The orange light is arbitrary.

    HP bios password

Which password are you attempting to remove? Power-on? Supervisor? Some machines that have had the "simple" bios restriction password set can be cleared by shorting two contact points somewhere under the service panel but that's rare in my limited experience. I don't think a clean bios dump...

Thanks for the clues. Followed your leads and I'm ashamed to reply that this is one is a clear-cut case of CPUicide. Lastly... Are brown/motley-crue-looking-inductors indicative of anything or is that an eventual normal life cycle presence & presentation?

Hey hey, Finally got back to this one. Pulled and re balled the smc, same behavior as stated above unfortunately. What are possible causes for pm_slp_$4_l to read 0.8v? I read a reply that Louis posted on a similar situation (1v) where he stated that 1v is not a "valid" reading. Essentially...

Yep from donors here. Not available new... Programmed anyway. I think.

    Fair price for preballed SMC

Yeah, just seems like there's a niche that could be filled since reballing is the piece most despise, I recall Louis mentioning purchasing smc's pre-balled somewhere before that source dried up. I'm at a loss for sale avenues overall as it is, ebay is a wreck, i can afford to lose $20, no...

    Fair price for preballed SMC

Satisfaction would have to be the target of guarantee. If a board figures to be trash and the smc is not an obvious fail, why not make a bit back it.

    Fair price for preballed SMC

    I'd be selling.

    Fair price for preballed SMC

Thinking about this small niche and curious what a fair price point for (p)re-balled SMC's might look like. Thanks in advance!

    Charge backs

That's interesting. At the very least anyone who engaged in that shit would have to put in some work to pwn a listing, if that's the intent.
