    820-3435-B (Heatpipe 2) sensor

    >> Askaleto / Dukefawks << You sir are a steely eyed missile men! Problem on damaged LB was R5371 was knocked off. Found the pat on the exact page you mentioned in schematics and went to check that resistor and it was missing! It was LIO Finstack Temp! That is Heatpipe 2! I have been...

    820-3435-B (Heatpipe 2) sensor

you don't know either. :( I am testing with a 100% working board. Every sensor passes in HW-monitor and I am trying to break Heatpipe 2 so I know where it is. I have another board that is failing this sensor and I can't figure out where it is. I am testing with the bare working board and...

    820-3435-B (Heatpipe 2) sensor

I use HW monitor to monitor all the sensors when testing a LB. I have a board where the Heatpipe 2 sensor is "128" not working. and for the life of me I do not know which sensor this is. I took a working board and removed thermal sensors one by one. Here are the results as detected by HW...

    820-00165 (2.2Ghz i7) running a little too hot.

I have encountered this before but it wasn't this bad. The customer is complaining about the machine locking up and freezing. I have a 820-0065 lb that the CPU runs incredibly hot. Fan spin is normal. "replaced it anyway Heat sink seems to conduct heat well and it is too hot to touch at the...

    820-01521-A no 20v Just 5v LDO's are present

The T2 could keep the machine stuck at 5v? Wouldn't it have to be at 20V before I could do anything such as T2 recovery should there be activity on the IC2 data lines?

    820-01521-A no 20v Just 5v LDO's are present

I need to gain some understanding of how the CD3215's switch to 20v. Is the processor involved? My LDO's are present. 3v3 is good. No signs of physical damage or h2o The CD3215's do appear to be working as I move one to the other. Slight glow in thermal no shorts detected.

    820-01598 FROM HELL!!! Backlight problems

There is no data stream what so ever. Its totally blank no pulses of any kind. I no longer have the machine. I only had hands on it for one day. I may get it back but looks like the PCH is toast. The air's were controlled by the smc. I guess these new ones are different.

    820-01598 FROM HELL!!! Backlight problems

It doesn't look like there is much to that signal other than a tie down resistor. So from what I saw here it looks like the PCH was damaged on that data line ?

    820-01598 FROM HELL!!! Backlight problems

I kept hoping for a reply to this thread while I was working on the board. I ended up answering my own questions and digging deeper and deeper into the problem as the day went on. This was the only machine I worked on today. I had no idea how complex the backlight circuit was until today on...

    820-01598 FROM HELL!!! Backlight problems

This is a rush repair I will probably get to pass on as I am totally stuck. I am new to these boards. Lots of things were damaged on this LB. U8500 LCD PP5V_GS3_ALSCAM was damaged. Replaced U7710 totally smoked and sense resistors smoked U8110 smoked and eating R8147 After all that was...

    820-01598 20v bounce .09A not starting up

I am a total newb on these LB's PP1V2 s3 never happens PP3v3 G3H good STAYS ON PP5V_GS3 good but turns on and off with the bounce. PP1V8 S5 and PP3V3 S5 good PP2V5 NAND is solid PMU CLK's are good Not sure where to start with this thing. I can't find any shorts. Thermal is good. Only warmth...

A2179 year 2020 I do not know the board number

update: using another board I reversed the line and discovered that the via is blown somewhere in the LB. Not sure. But the connection to the buck converter is gone. I am going to run a jumper. I cannot find any reason for the failure. There are no shorts. So I am thinking it must be...

A2179 year 2020 I do not know the board number

I have no idea where the board number is on this thing. I crossed it using ebay to a 820-01598 and found a copy of that but that was wrong. The fault I think is a common one. The 5v filter near the display plug melted down. The 5v rail is now down and the camera no longer works. I dug...

820-01041 not charging but works great otherwise.

It was the ISL chip. I replaced it and the machine works fine.

820-01041 not charging but works great otherwise.

No charge voltage present. PPVBAT_G3H is good. CHGR_BGATE voltage all the way up to 12v at Q7065 U7000 has power and R7061 and R7062 are both reading properly at 1ohm. U7000 PP1V8_SLPS2R is present No sign of water damage. Is U7000 still made out of unobtanium?

820-00165 Bouncing Bitch (no sign of H2O)

no luck. I often use that heating trick on intermittent boards to see if the PCH has issues.

820-00165 Bouncing Bitch (no sign of H2O)

The Bounce. Pulls .3A and shuts down. From no power it will bounce twice in about 4 seconds. The SMC appears perfect. The SMC gives it a second try. after that it settles at 0.030A and just sits there. the 5V rail and 3V rails come up but the 3V3 rail stays up. All rails enter S0...

820-01521 L8570 "melt down" of (PP5V_Main to screen) CPU power rails not turning on. Pulls 0.17A "20v"

CPU (VCORE) is not present and there is no modulation signal at CPUVCORE_FCM from U7100. All of them are down but CPU VCCSA. As I mentioned above the only CPU rail that is active is CPU VCCSA. Now I know CPUGT is for the GPU. :)

820-01521 L8570 "melt down" of (PP5V_Main to screen) CPU power rails not turning on. Pulls 0.17A "20v"

I was handed this machine with a replacement screen installed. The original screen was cracked. The L8570 melt down was so bad the trace is vaporized. The PP5V_G3S line does show 5v. I did not bother to replace L8570 just confirmed that PP5V_G3S was present. The CPU VGT Phase 1 is never...
