Ok the reboots haven’t happened so far with the internal HDD removed (could be coincidental). Could it be something else in that case? I am trying to doublecheck if anyone’s had any other issues as I don’t have any test parts for this model
Anyone have any experience with a 5k 27inch that shows strange video-issues? Dragging windows across the screen causes weird laggy display-issues; tearing image and weird reboots. Is this a videocard issue? I have tested with knowngood RAM already, but cant find any schematics/boardviews for...
OK, so have replaced the LVDS that i stole from a donor even though its fucking warm in here and i didnt feel like it. :)
Got backlight back for 5 minutes, but then fuse blew again. What could be the reason for the fuse to blow? I'm new to this stuff (for some reason, havent had almost any...
I've replaced the fuse, everything else seems to measure normal.
board is fully working apart from this, boots to a question mark flashing (seeing this with a flashlight on my test-LCD)
The voltage at PPVOUT_S0_LCDBKLT (pins 38,39,40 at LVDS connector) measures 37.2V
Does that mean something...
lots of discussion here..
Anyways, i am thinking about using some time of the day for walk-in customers, say between 2pm-5pm, that way i would be able to work before that without disturbance. I am a bit angsty of that scaring off customers. I don't have the luxury of experimenting too much, so...
came in yesterday, customer spilt cocktail on it, wouldnt turn on at all.
After replacing SMC, U5110 and U1950, and a good clean w/ flux the board works again.
Computer boots up, but freezes on loginscreen, regardless of which SSD i put in (my own test-SSD as well)
Have read up a little on...
I have replaced the SMC as well in the meantime, there is no change in symptoms. Is it ok to take off the SMC again and look for shorts that way? Or any hints on what to suspect next?
Alright, great and thanks for the insight! It’s gonna come in anyway, told her to hop by already. It’s not a mail in repair.
Might also sell a battery in the process. Thanks again!
What is the cause of this type of video-distortion on a MacBook Pro mid 2012 (820-3115)?
Haven't had it in yet, but customer is sending me this via mail, this is after a keyboard-connector replacement from 2 months ago.
Also, customer reports issues with battery, computer cant run on battery...
OK, have put current through it, started at 1v and cranked to 2v, only thing that gets hot is the ISL (SMC stays cold). So decided to replace the ISL as I have plenty on 3437donors lying around. didn't change anything.
is the next suspect the SMC?
need help with this board
came in just a little dusty, but no real corrosion or liquid traces
get 0,3V on PP3v42
testing of course with known good DCINboard and LIO Cable.
R6905 was replaced because it looked blown and showed a drop in voltage on pin 1 18.49V to pin 2: 2,49V, but ofcourse it...
I am getting more and more walk-in customers that ring the bell (I'm still working from home).
This is of course good news, especially if they're quick upgrade-jobs and easy fixes, but the longer ones involving liquid spill-repair take me a lot of time, and it can be quite distracting having to...
Title says it all basically:
Have a 2017 model MacBook Pro in with liquid in the screen; lower lefthand corner is looking bubbly.
Anyone every attempted to fix that?
Yes only for 2011. Sounds like a better solution, never thought of that, stupidly enough. The connector does have quite the amount of flexible rubbery stuff so it bends around the little solderblob. But I’m gonna use your method from now on.
I think it was duke that pointed out you can solder three pins together on the SATA connector. I’ve figured the enclosed picture to be the easiest way, but please let duke verify if this is correct. (I can’t for the life of me remember if this is the right picture as I had multiple attempts and...
i have better results with a better concentration alcohol; also don't let your alcohol come into contact with air too much: it evaporates quickly, leaving your 99,9% solution turning into a 70% in no time. The water is the stuff that leaves the white residue.
After ultrasonic, i clean with fresh...
