found d3402 blown. but the line is not shorted.
found usbc_xb_d2r_p shorted, from u2800.
pulled u2800, and mac boot with 20v,
just need to pull another chip and install it to the mac, thank you so muchh for the pointer
clean board, customer as usual just say nothing happen it just dead some day..
smc_rst_in 0v
smc_usbc_int_l 3.3v
have tried removing the redriver chip too, but still same problem
Hi, this machine came in dead, with 5v on both port, consuming about 30-40ma
pp3v3_g3h is fine
ppbus not shorted
smc_reset_l 3.4v
buf_smc_reset_l 3.4v
Both of the cd3215 missing pp1v1 ldo, cd3215 has been replaced with KNOWN GOOD chip, still the same.
any pointer ?
so both of the port, usb 3 doesnt work ( external hard drive for example ), but there's power as the hard drive is spinning.
usb 2 device like mouse and keyboard work.
charging is fine on both port too.
used known good charging port, same story.
diode mode on usb3 line
r3012 : 0.363, both side...
I see you in other post recommending people to try remove the diode, even though measurement is good, just in case.
so i tried removing d4600 and d4601, and sure enough they start to work lol. I thought diode only died by shorting itself, but it can interfere like this..
Replaced with donor's...
diode mode is 0.420 on all pin ( 1-4 )
on known good board without the u4650 bypass, diode mode is 0.650 on both side left and right side, is this acceptable ?
hi, this macbook came in with some backlight damage, fixed that.
Found out j4600 usb port has some problem. It will detect hard drive fine, but if pluged with mouse or wireless mouse receiver, or any small powered usb,it doesnt work.
The other usb port is working fine.
There's 5v on each side...
all big coil diode mode compared to good board is good.
board doesnt start in smc bypass too...
have tried reheating pch, smc, pmic , replacing tps519810A but still same behaviour
Hi.. this macbook came in, owner say it suddenly die.
When plugged with usb c ( 96w original magsafe ), it will go from 5v to 20v, then consume20-40ma, back to 0a repeatedly. ( all port behave the same )
measured :
Ppbus : 12.6v steady
pp3v3_g3h : 3.3v steady
pp5v_s5 : 5v - 0v cycling
pp3v3_s5 ...
so i found out, that mac only behave like this with BIL connected.
if I unplug BIL, its normal.
Using KNOWN good BIL will still behave like that, so the problem is still from logicboard..
