Board looks clean no liquid damage. No voltage on PPDCIN_G3H, no short to ground. Only thing I found was PP3V3R3V0_AON had only 39 ohms to ground, is this ok? Don't have another board to compare to.
I was using a working 3787 to compare measurements around L7130/L7520 when my probes slipped and shorted some things together (not sure what). The computer immediately shut down, and now when I boot it there is no display on the internal LCD as well as over HDMI with and without the LCD...
Got an 820-3437 that came in dead. Corrosion only around JTAG, so removed JTAG to get the fan to spin, but now it does not post (no light on the mouse). CPU vcore is 1.5v. The fan also immediately spins up, not on and off a few times first. It is also spinning at max RPM.
820-2915 seems to be power cycling. I get bursts of the S3 and S0 rails. SMC_PM_G2_EN and P3V3S5_EN cycles high-low. Can't find any shorts or heat on the board. PPVRTC_G3H also seems to be cycling, but between 3.3-3.4v only.
820-3115 no power, no PP3V3_S5.
Q7221 pin 2, 5 are 3.4v, which means the U7200 entrip will not enable the PP3V3_S5 regulator.
However, I cannot figure out for the life of me how U7941 drops P3V3S5_EN_L. Is it internal? So when SMC_PM_G2_EN is present on pin 2, then U7941 will set the output...
Another shop sent me an 820-4924 that they tried to flash the bios on but failed. The chip was missing so I pulled one off a donor board and put it in my TL866 to program with a new ME region. However, once I dumped it it looks like junk -- no serial number or "hwc" anywhere.
Does anybody have...
Liquid damaged 820-00045, looks nasty especially around ISL95530 BGA chip. I'm using an original charger with it. The issue is PPDCIN_G3H is only 5v not 14.5v so it's not generating PPBUS_G3H properly I believe. However, it looks like U4780 is the chip that tells the charger to step the voltage...
I replaced the SMC on an 820-3437 and the board works fine, however it won't boot into the customer's OS. I verified that their drive does boot on another machine. I suspect the issue is that the SMC firmware on the SMC I put on is too new for her OS (Mountain Lion) or maybe vise-versa...
Trying to edit the SPI ROM in order to get the serial to match the case on a board I replaced. I have a TL866.
I used the read function in minipro and had to uncheck "Check ID" to get it to read. But when I dumped it into HxD and tried to find the serial, searching for "hwc" didn't pull it up...
I have got two 820-3476 where the keyboard and trackpad randomly starts and stops working. Pretty sure they are not recognized as USB devices when this happens. Keyboard controller?
Like title says, 820-2936 with pulsing SMC_PM_G2_EN. Board looks clean. PPVRTC_G3H also pulses, and PPBUS_G3H sometimes goes between 12.55-12.63v. SMC reset is fine.
Dead SMC?
820-4924 liquid damage, C5125 and R5489 were corroded so I replaced them and it turns on now, however once I plug the trackpad in it chimes then gets stuck at a blank black screen before the Apple logo. Already tried a known good trackpad and cable, and the trackpad does click when it is on. Ideas?
