820-00163-A Green light for a second and nothing after it, and battery doesn't charge

Hello Team,

I have an issue with a macbook air A1466 (MB: 820-00165-A).

When I "plug" the magsafe, I have a green light for a second (maybe less) and then nothing more after it, the battery doesn't charge.
Strangely, it's working absolutely well when I use it only on battery.

Here are the tests / changes I made:
- Used a different magsafe (known working)
- I changed the I/O board with a new one
- I changed the I/O board cable with a new one
- During one second (after "pluging" the magsafe) I have +/- 3.4v on PPBUG G3H and 0V after it (measured at L7095)

But nothing solved the issue.

I'm not sure where to start tshoot.
Can you help me with this please ?

First of all, welcome to the forum!

Looks like leakage on input stage.
Did you test with 45/60W original Magsafe 2 charger?
If yes, see what happens with fake charger, or lab PSU.

Post exact ohm value for R7012 (measured onboard).
Check if D7012 is good and post U7010 voltages.

Hello 2informaticos,

thank you for taking care of my request (and the welcoming of course).

1. Did you test with 45/60W original Magsafe 2 charger?
Yes, with both of them and the result is exactly the same (green light for one second and nothing after it)

2. If yes, see what happens with fake charger, or lab PSU.
I've just check with a fake 60W magsafe 2 charger (I never use it) and the green light appeared then the orange light with the battery charging.

3. Post exact ohm value for R7012 (measured onboard).
The exact value of R7012 is 68,2 kOhm

4. Check if D7012 is good
The D7012 (Diode Zener) seems to be good (0,807 V on normal flow and infinite on the opposite flow)

5. Post U7010 voltages
I'm sorry, but I don't find the component U7010 on schematics, where can I find it ?

I remain at your entire disposal.
Thanking you in advance

5. Post Q7010 voltages

Ok so, with the fake 60W magsafe 2 charger I have:

1 = 16,66 V
2 = 16,66 V
3 = 16.66 V
4 = 6,74 V
5 = 16.66 V
6 = 16.66 V
7 = 16.66 V
8 = 16.66 V

I expected voltages with original charger connected.

If board works with fake charger, change Q7180.

Ok, sorry

5. Post Q7010 voltages

Ok so, with the official 60W magsafe 2 charger I have:

1 = 135 mV (unstable)
2 = 86,6 mV (unstable)
3 = 79,9 mV (unstable)
4 = 6,74 V
5 = 7,31 V
6 = 49,4 mV
7 = 49,4 mV
8 = 7,31 V

6. If board works with fake charger, change Q7180.

Ok, I'll change Q7180, and give you a feedback after it.

Quick update:

After replacing Q7180 the battery now charge and work normally with an official magsafe 2 charger.

Thank you very much for your experience sharing and response time.
As always, your reputation precedes you.
