820-00165-A - Only works when IOBoard Flex is disconnected.

Tried with multiple ioboards, flex cables and all combinations in between.

If it starts up (without flex) and I connect the flex (while running) we get a green/orange light. But the board won't start when flex cable is connected.

Jacks on both ends look okay.

With flex cable connected, we're missing PP5V_S4RS3.

Are you 100% sure using the correct year flex and board? Not plugged in the flex in reverse? Inspect connector on the board for corrosion?

That is the correct cable. Are you plugging in this cable the right way around?? Also getting a green/orange light without the cable is impossible.

There is no light with the flex disconnected, only when connected.

Board works fine, with flex connected, if battery is connected too.

Just had another board identical to this one come in.

They only work with my 85w Mag Safe 2 charger for some reason.

85w Magsafe 1 with adapter won't start it.

Best part is it came from another shop that tried to charge the customer $1,800 for a new board.

I also had this problem last week. making sure a known-good battery was plugged in at the same time fixed the issue but it wouldnt work off of just the charger for some reason.

I found the 820-00165 will only work off a Genuine MagSafe2 adapter, and not a MagSafe 1 with a little converter on it.

Is that post liquid damage? I've found the same thing (which is super obnoxious) but I want to verify that it's not the liquid damage having done something to make magsafe 1's not work.
