820-00165 only detecting i out of 5 batteries.

History: Liquid spill ? Completely dead when customer brought in.

1. Ultrasonic cleaning
2. Replaced Audio board and cable

Result: Starts with Magsafe ?. not seeing battery

1. Reflowed SMC (No Change)

Tried other batteries and found 1 out of 5 batteries are detected as normal. All batteries work normally in older MBA 2011 machines in shop.

I have a well equipped shop but am new at board level repair.

This is 2015 machine (maybe newer), so use correct battery model.
Does it always recognize and charges the same battery?
Also use Magsafe 2 charger, not adapter 1-->2.

Yes, It only works with one of the A1496 batteries that I had in stock (Original Simplo). It does not recognize its original A1496 battery although coconut battery app shows it has 98% design capacity in other machines. Another strange thing is that it sees the other original A1496 batteries at 100% (pre login as in photo) while in fact booting off the MagSafe. The battery is at 60% on the other machines.

P.S. I only use 85w original Magsafe chargers on bench without adapters.

Its original battery works good with other 00165 board?
Check voltage and diode mode on SCL/SDA lines of battery bus.
Be sure R6950 is good.
Does it start with precharged battery (without charger)?

Sorry I was away from the lab.
I tested original battery on another 820-00165 board from inventory and it spins the fans.

SCL = 3.2v - 3.3v Pulse
SDA = 3.1v - 3.4v Pulse

Diode Mode = SCL = 0.441
Diode Mode = SDA = 0.440

R6950 is 10K

It only starts with one of the five batteries without charger, It is a brand new Battery. The original and all the other batteries start both the 820-00165 and the 820-3023 and show up as charging or discharging in OS on other boards.

The Battery that shows up in OS is not stable. It now complains with the Lightning bolt at start up with fully charged battery. This battery that works was probably just a bit different from the rest allowing the OS to see it. While no charger is connected coconut says it is charging and the battery icon is red while showing 100%

Try another LIO board and flex.
Also check onboard LIO connector for corrosion.

I tried another LIO board and flex - no change

It's now missing the trackpad and keyboard, they come back sometimes on a restart but quickly fail. I tried another trackpad and keyboard - no change.

Tried re-balling the SMC with no change.

Replaced ISL6259 with no change.

You still have some areas affected by corrosion.
Must inspect under microscope, with patience.
Possibly resistors with corroded terminals, maybe some corroded traces.
Even connectors could have crap underneath, especially the ones for battery and trackpad.

The trackpad & keyboard works ok with option key for selective startup. I inspected this board thoroughly for corrosion several times.

I fixed the trackpad problem. It was the R4830. It tested ok and was clean but I decided to reflow it.
