Why did you consider that like short???
Making wrong assumption, doesn't help you.

Allow 10-15s since power is disconnected, before measuring ohm scale, or diode mode.

Are you using 87W charger for sure?
Post some voltages from the MLB.
You didn't say even what USB-C meter shows...
