Remove heatsink!
No need to melt the balls.
Just try to burn eventually accumulated crap underneath; or expect some internal reaction.
No more than 180-200 degrees, for 15-20s.

No luck, no image on test screen, no usb activity. Is all hope lost?
Student customer concerned about loss of data for university work so what percentage chance do you think 076-00236 hardware might pull data off? Ofcourse I would have to locate that hardware.

Student client cant pay for data recovery so fixing the board is the only way.

Is there any further hope for the logic board? (other than a much needed donor ;)
Should the cause of the periodic increase in current draw be looked for or is it normal behaviour?

Some further advice appreciated!

6 days later. I was hoping for an opinion whether there was any future hope for this board. Customer has become disillusioned and wants the macbook returned.

This looks like lost cause, sorry.
People who buy Apple machines, should understand how important is to make backup on external storage device, or Internet.

Sadly I wont even get a donor board out of it. Did you put down the 0.45 amps to 0.7 amps as not worth investigating - is it normal or something trying to switch on but switching off?
