Hello,

I have a MacBook here that does not want to turn on. On the charger, I can see 0.04 amps for a split second then 0 amps for a few seconds and then it cycles again. No signs of liquid damage. Where do I even begin?

PPBUS_G3H = 12.6 volts (0.398 resistance to ground when off)
PPBUS_HS_CPU = 12.6 volts
PPBUS_HS_GPU = 12.6 volts
PPBUS_HS_OTH5V = 12.6 volts
PPBUS_HS_3V3G3H_T = 12.6 volts
PPBUS_HS_3V3G3HRTC_X = 12.6 volts

PP1V2_S3 = 0 volts

PP1V8_G3S = 1.8 volts
PP5V_G3S = 5 volts
PP3V3_G3H_T = 3.3 volts
PP3V3_G3H_RTC_X = 3.3 volts
PP3V3_G3S_T = 3.3 volts
PP3V3_G3H_SSD0_SNS = 3.3 volts
PPBUS_G3H_SSD0_SNS = 12.6 volts

PP3V3_S5 = 0 volts
ALL_SYS_PWRGD_R = 0 volts
SMC_RSMRST_L = 0 volts
CPU_VCCST_PWRGD = 0 volts
PP1V05_S3 = 0 volts

PP1V8_AWAKE = 1.8 volts
PP1V8_SLPS2R = 1.8 volts

Any advice?

Thanks. It is likely T2, I will look into DFU mode. Under the thermal camera, T2 and the SSD's are the only chips heating up.

When trying to revive T2 in DFU mode I get the following message.

The System cannot be restored on this device.

The operation couldn’t be completed. (AMRestoreErrorDomain error 6 - Failed to handle message type StatusMsg (Operation failed)) [AMRestoreErrorDomain – 0x6 (6)]

This happens on the last step of the revive process.

And just a few more measurements:
PP2V5_NAND_SSD0 = 2.5 volts
PP1V8_SSD0 = 1.8 volts
PP0V9_SSD0 = 0.9 volts

There could be a problem with T2, or SSD.
Did you try both revive/restore options?
Don't try restore, if there is important data on its SSD; it will be erased.

I tried restore option just now - confirmed with customer for approval. The message shown is the exact same as if I were to do a revive.

The System cannot be restored on this device.

The operation couldn’t be completed. (AMRestoreErrorDomain error 6 - Failed to handle message type StatusMsg (Operation failed)) [AMRestoreErrorDomain – 0x6 (6)]

Is this something I should just close up? Or are there some signals I should check out first?

Thanks in advance.
