so this laptop has sound issues. i don't know how to proceed with this so would appreciate some insight. the laptop always chimes, always get sound on headphones and mic is always working. i get sound for around 15seconds to 2 min of sound on speakers on a fresh startup. after that no sound. if i power down by holding power button and turn back on sound comes back on for a bit. where to start on this? why would it stop working? I reflowed u6500/50 and u6400/50 with no change.

The audio codec still recognized in system report, when the problem appears?
Lose sound on headphones too?
The system detects when you plug/unplug headpones?
Did you try another audio board?

board is clean. customer came in with this problem

i never lose sound in headphones and is detected
audio board? i thought everything is on the board on this model? do you mean headphone jack cable (not sure if the audio ic is on headphone jack?)

Yes, audio jack board; to discard a problem with sense pin.

When you plug/unplug the headphones, macOS shows the changes on the audio outputs?
Check that when the problem appears.

yes always working and showing up when headphones connected. can i post a video link so you can see?

Save data and try DFU restore.
