HELLO FIRST POST ON HERE.

I had a friend gave me a MacBook that was not charging... I had exact same computer, 17" 2011 2.2 model.
I put the working next to the one that was not turning on,

The fake CHARGER ON EXACT SAME MACBOOK AS my friend , MY MACBOOK made some NOISE and then the LCD Display BLEW OUT old fashion with a WARP.
NOW, BOTH MACBOOKS DO RECEIVE POWER (GREEN LIGHT).

I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHY I USED THE CHARGER IN THE FIRST PLACE. :/

I have a DC Power Supply where I had cut the end of a MacBook Pro charger and split the positive and negative sides.

What would be step one?
How do I test the rails using the schematics to see which component went bad.

never done this repair before.

First of all, welcome to the forum!

Original Apple charger is smart enough (has an embedded processor).
It only delivers 6V (for Magsafe 1), with low current capability.
Once charger correctly detects the MacBook, it will switch to full voltage/power.

Fake chargers deliver full voltage from the first moment.
Sometime SMC gets fried; especially if Magsafe is connected bit angled.

That shouldn't be your problem if the machine worked a bit.
But some fake chargers also generate unstable voltage, with lot of spikes.
You could have the "chance" to got one.

This means 3V42_G3H is present and SMC works (at least partially).
But we need more information.
Do the fans spin?
PPBUS_G3H appears with correct voltage (when battery disconnected)?

If you plan to use lab PSU to power the machine, turn it on (PSU) only after the cable is connected to MacBook.
