820-3115 A1278 reset

My customer has 20 years of photos on an old A1278 Macbook but she has long forgotten her password.

When I try and reset the password the macbook presents me a screen with

Serial Number. xxxxxxxxxx
and
Record number xxxxxxxxxx

and says call Applecare but when I ask the owner to call them she was fobbed off by the Apple staff saying it wasnt possible.

Can anyone inform me that it is possible and I should try harder with Apple staff?

Or is there another way around this to get to the photos?

I think a Kon-Boot macOS version exists; probably paid version.

I paid for it. In fact I had to pay for Mac+Windoze because Mac only wasnt available. Was not succesful.

The owner has that machine registered on his account?
There should be an option to reset password online, from the account.
