If no image, no reason to search for backlight.
As per your notes, missing BKL_EN/PWM; no reason to waste time on backlight circuit, is not even enabled.
Do you get 3V at pins 18/19 of J9000 (at least when hear chime)?
If yes, pin 14 should go high at same time.
Check with LCD connected...
