I have an another 820-3437 with no backlight, but I have 40V one side of D7701 and 8.5V on the other. does this mean it is not seeing the screen??

tried another assembly still no backlight
You should see 25-27v on a working air backlight circuit at the end.
You see 40v at D7701, but what do you see right on pins 3 and 4 of the LCD connector?
If you have 40v at pins 3/4 of the LCD connector, the connector is probably broken internally and not sending that to the screen.
