Im working on a spillage board . There was spillage around the battery area and also around U4801.I changed this Ic. Now it turns on when adapter inserted and powers up. if you power it off it powers up again. If you remove the adapter it will stay on with the battery but will not charge. It will turn off using powerbutton but wont power on again.

F7140 = 11.8v
J0505 = pins 13/14 = 3.3v
R7050 = 10k

I have reballed and replaced the smc but still the same.
I have replaced U7100.
Any input appreciated

"F7140 = 11.8v"
I supposed this voltage is with battery connected.
Need to measure without battery.

Battery is not recognized at all by macOS?
Try known good battery.

F7140 without battery is 12.54v

I have tried several batteries.
Board will not stay powered off with or without battery present if I short WS_KBD_ONOFF_L unless I remove adapter power then short WS_KBD_ONOFF_L it will stay off but not come back on with just battery.

Test the board alone on the desk; no keyboard, nor RIO board connected.
Use R5115/16 pads and see if stays off.

What says macOS about battery?
I forgot the question mark on previous post...

SMC_ONOFF_L has steady 3V?
PM_PWRBTN_L drops correctly when you trigger SMC_ONOFF_L?

Check wake signals, to see if any keeps enabled when you trigger SMC_ONOFF_L.

SMC_ONOFF_L has 3.4v steady
PM_PWRBTN_L drop to 0v when SMC_ONOFF_L is triggered

SMC_WAKE_L stays high when SMC_ONOFF_L is triggered
SMC_WAKE_SCI_L goes low
SMC_PME_S4_WAKE_L goes low
AP_PCIE_WAKE_L goes low
AP_S0IX_WAKE_L goes low

"SMC_WAKE_SCI_L goes low
SMC_PME_S4_WAKE_L goes low"
And keep low?

When you turn it off (on battery alone), does it turn on by itself when you reconnect the charger (with battery present)?

They keep low as long as I keep SMC_ONOFF_L low as soon as it goes high they then go high.
Yes it turns on with battery present by itself like if there was no battery present.

Ii changed U4850 as it was a bit cruddy and it seems to be behaving itself now. Staying off when SMC_ONOFF_L is triggered
