Customer brought this machine, installed his own cheap crappy battery from Amazon and battery showed X. After replacing with a good battery, the battery showed. I have an orange light, however, it does not charge. Checked all resistors around U7100 they are all OK, replace U7100, same issue. 2 pullups for the battery are 2K, seem fine too. Anything else I should check? SMC reflow maybe?

Post exact diode mode to ground readings and voltage at SCL/SDA lines of battery bus.
Also PPBUS_G3H, without battery connected.

Are you sure about these readings?
Is very strange to get correct PPBUS_G3H with such big difference between SCL/SDA.

Just in case, remove D7050 and check again.
Be sure R7050 is good.

Yes very sure. The mac is running and working fine, it can see the battery, but just say charging NO, does show charge sign though in the top bar.

Will check again with what you mentioned.

I removed D7050 and U7100, it reads on R5381 = 0.771 and R5187 = 0.485. Put another U7100 on the board and no D7050, PPBUS is 12.57. If measure on D7050 Pin 1 and 2 both 0.726 (with it removed). With D7050 on the board (replaced for a new one) I get 0.522 and 0.518. Readings on R5381 and 5187 still the same. Might try an SMC reball?

Edit there was some corrosion around D7050, could it possible also be a bad battery connector? I guess if I remove the SMC R5381 and 87 should read correct if the SMC causes the issue?

New chinese battery doesn't mean known good.
You must confirm good battery with other board.
Or test the actual board with really known good battery.

R5187, why???
R5380/81 are the pull-up resistors for I2C battery bus.

Batteries are good. Sorry my mistake its R5380 and 5381, getting late here ^^. After remove the SMC, 5380 = 5.19 and R5381 = 5.22 so looks like the SMC causes the issue. Will try reball or replace. Thanks for the help.
