Possibly iGPU problem.
Test first with new macOS installation.

But I didn't do anything to repair the original problem. It just fixed itself. I don't expect that to last.

It endlessly loads Catalina. Usb C key connected directly.
That is without the SSD attached.

With the SSD it still loads into the OS but appears purple sometimes. Still sluggish.

Board still extracted. Only connected to external monitor.
