A1989 - Anyone ever seen a fault which looks like the device is intermittently not sleeping with lid close?

This customer has now been here three times with his A1989. He reports the complaint as closing the lid in the morning, battery at 100%. After work, he notes before opening the lid, the device is very hot. He opens the lid and the battery is much lower.

Until now, I have not been able to verify the complaint, as the device is working correctly with me. However, this time he came in and hasn't opened the lid since morning, and sure enough - it's pretty warm. Warm enough that it would seem it was doing more than just idling with the lid closed. I opened the lid and slowly closed it to verify the screen was going off, and it was. I did this two or three more times and the screen was turning off each time. About a minute later I could feel the MacBook(with lid still closed) was starting to cool down.

So, we have a weird intermittent issue here. Has anyone experienced this before?

Check if all S0 voltages go off, when lid is closed.
To diagnostic such problems with the MLB on the desk, use magnets aproached to lid sensors.
