So im planning to buy bench psu, just normal generic psu with 20v 5a thingy, but this regulated psu say "short protection" if im planning to inject into shorted line, doesnt that mean the psu will not work?
5A is too low for injection.
Imagine a very low value short, which will only allow you to inject 1V at 5A.
That means 5W, which is not easy to detect by heat; especially if the culprit is a big BGA chip.
Such PSU cannot inject more than 5A, so no way to increase the heat.
A 20A PSU can inject 10-20W into very low short values.
Is 10a enough? What psu do you personally use? Im from third world country.., so importing will be pricier and taking long time, also warranty claim will be suck too.., so im checking the local’s psu right now..
I use 20A for inhecting voltage and I do NOT recommend less.
I was able to find a shorted cap with only 1.2V.
My PSU doesn't have current indicator, but was more than 10A for sure; as I saw the cap smoking with such low voltage.
