General question on display assembly

If a 2014 MBA works fine when the internal display is disconnected and an external display is used can you clear the GPU of fault
and implicate the display assembly.

Please understand that I am just learning and wanted to know if it was worth the trouble to swap out the screen assembly if this was the case.

MBA has only iGPU, integrated on CPU.
If you get external video, very likely to have a problem with internal LCD.
But keep in mind, internal (for internal LCD) and external outputs of iGPU are separated.

Are you missing both image and backlight of internal LCD?
