Hi.
I have a MacBook Air 11” that has no power there is no green.
No liquid damaged.

now state.

J7000 MLB to LIO Power Cable Connector
Pin1(PPDCIN_G3H) = 14.48v
Pin2(PPDCIN_G3H) = 14.48v
Pin3(PP5V_S4RS3) = 0v

"G3Hot" (Always-Present) Rails
PPBUS_G3H = 7.9V
PPDCIN_G3H_ISOL = 14.48V
PPDCIN_G3H = 14.48V
PP3V42_G3H = 3.3V
PPVRTC_G3H = 3.3V

5V Rails
PP5V_S5 = 0V
PP5V_S4RS3 = 0V
PPBUS_S5_HS_COMPUTING_ISNS = 7.98V
PPBUS_S5_HS_OTHER_ISNS = 7.98V
PP5V_S0 = 0

smc data lines
SMC_ONOFF_L 3.3V(U5110 Pin7)
SMC_BC_ACOK 3.3V(R5187 Pin1)
SMC_RESET_L 0V(U5110 Pin5)
SMC_ADAPTER_EN 0.11V
SMC_PM_G2_EN 0V(U7501 Pin12)

U5110 is bad?
Do you have any idea on what is causing this?

thanks.

I noticed you listed voltages for S0 rails... but.....

No S5_PWRGD = no ADAPTOR_EN = no SLP_S5
There is no point looking at anything (power state wise) above 3.42V - 8.6V and S5 rails

You have a smc reset issue, ppbus should be at last 8.5v. Smc shouldnt fail unless liquid got in. U5110 is the ideal suspect.

SMC can and does fail without liquid.... I am not saying that is the problem, just that they DO fail.

SMC_RESET_L should be 3.42v. 0.5v means shorted SMC, 0v means bad U5110 usually.

1) What does R5100 measure? This resistor pulls up SMC_RESET_L to 3.42v.
2) What voltage do you get for SMC_RESET_L when you remove U5110?

If you remove U5110, R5100 is good, and SMC_RESET_L is still low - the SMC is pulling it down.
If you remove U5110 and SMC_RESET_L goes up to 3.42v, then U5110 was bad.

Thank you all .

>> 1) What does R5100 measure? This resistor pulls up SMC_RESET_L to 3.42v.

R5100
Pin1 = 3.3v
Pin2 = 0v
Resistance value = 100k ohm

>>2) What voltage do you get for SMC_RESET_L when you remove U5110?

I will try to check up on that.

thanks

Hi.

I removed u5110.

R5100
Pin1 = 3.3v
Pin2 = 3.0v(SMC_RESET_L)

R7100
Pin1 = 3.0v
Pin2 = 3.0v3.0v(SMC_RESET_L)

and charger light is green on.

I think u5110 is bad.

I ordered donor-board and tools.

AmScope SE400-Z Professional Binocular Stereo Microscope
Solder Paste XG-50
smc Stencil

I ordered by ebay and aliexpress
I think it will take time to deliver, because i live japan.

thanks

Good chance U5110 is bad. However, SMC_RESET_L should be 3.3v at least, not 3.0v. That is worrisome.

The board can work without U5110. Apply power and after that manually short SMC_RESET to GND for a fraction to give the SMC a "clean" start. That is basically what U5110 does only within a few milli seconds. PPBUS should now come up at 8.6ish Volts.
