Macbook pro 15 2015 (IG) a1398 video glitches all the time each second.
The video is fine on external monitor, resting NVRAM & PRAM does not help.
Problem is there when booting to safe mode or linux from USB drive. Other then the screen scrambling issue it works fine.

See video to see the problem:

Any help much appreciated.
Thanks.

First of all, welcome to the forum!

Did you try another compatible LCD assembly?
If no discrete GPU, then should be bad LCD, if external video is OK.

I thought about that but unfortunately I don't have a compatible lcd to test with at the moment.
It does seem like a display problem, although the distortion is intermittent each second, so the lcd matrix should be fine?
A new LCD is super expensive like 70% of laptop Price,
Is there anything else I can check before replacing the lcd?

Could it be the lcd cable, although moving the lcd does not change anything.

I usually deal with Windows laptops and I have newer seen a faulty screen that would scramble video intermittently, its either lines on the screen, or any other damage that is constantly there.
To me it looks like the LCD matrix itself is fine but something with data lines or v-Sync, either on the screen board or a laptop is intermittent? The retina screen is ridiculously expensive, does anyone has any other ideas or I am really out of options?
is it worth ordering a new LCD cable?

Also can anyone direct me to where I can buy a new LCD display for a low price?

Thanks.

We have no idea where are you located at least.
You can search for online auctions for same machine model, but with different damage, not LCD panel.

I know in US exist other webs where you can find second hand machines, from schools, or other companies.
Maybe in Canada too...

Sorry, I'm based on Spain.
Long time ago I saw some sites.
Is better to use Google and search for you machine model, adding second hand, used, non working, things like that...
