Owner says the battery went flat, then they charged it and opened it up, but nothing comes up on screen. When switching in now, gives a good dong so you can tell it is switched on, knocking a few keys on the keyboard and it gives error sounds so it has loaded to at least the log on screen.
After diagnosis and testing, the story so far from moving backwards from the lcd connecter: Need to see if voltage is getting to the screen
It knows when the screen has been closed as it goes to sleep when you close it
The screen does not come back on when you open it, but it does wake up Is the screen/graphics being told to switch on?
Is there pp3v3_sw_lcd there? At pins 2 and 3 of lcd connector?
Is at pin 3 Is the voltage there for the backlight at pins 38 39 40?
0.02v is there Is there pp3v3_so at r9010 r9011 c9010
Yes it is, the components test all ok Is there PP3V3_SW_LCD_UF at:
l9000 no
c9001 no
c9002 no
c9011 no
c9012 no
Components test ok though U9000
Is there 3v3 at pin 2 3 4 5
Voltages only at pin 2 and 3 so PP3V3_S5 is working
Pin 4 and 5 are output Is there PP3V3_S5 at pin 1 or 2 of c9009
Correct voltage is at pin 1 Is lcd_pwr_en at r9094
No voltage at that component
Need to find source of lcd_pwr_en
Comes from u9600
U9701 (lp 8550) looks like it might be burnt out, this is for the led backlight
So up to now it looks like it has a backlight AND graphics problem, I haven't done any testing for backlight yet other than seeing that lp8550 is burnt out
Can u9600 be reflowed/reballed or will it need replacing?
The device isn't liquid damaged, I can't quiye believe the issue it has would come from the battery going flat, but there you go.
So I am just wondering what to do about u9600 to at least get the graphics back then tackle the backlight.
Thanks for reading.
