Macbook Pro A1706 battery charging issue.

Hi

Got a dead Macbook Pro 820-00923-A. Q7040 was faulty-short circuit. After replacement machine started working but had issue switching power from adaptor to battery when plug out the adaptor. i kept it pluged in for few hours to charged the battery and it did charge but same transistor failed again Q7040 short circuit. replaced it again and device works fine with battery or adaptor but fails to switch power from adaptor to battery.

what can be the reason?

checked all d R/C7030/40. all looks ok. also replaced Q7065, C7051/50/7055. didn't make any difference.

it takes normal current when start up and stays arount 200mAmp after boot without battery but suddenly starts fluctuating with random values 500-900mAmp for few sencods and come back to normal value 200mAmp. Q7040 is only which gets hot around pin 1,2,3,13.

Hi
I’ve got a MacBook Pro A1708 (820-00875-01) that came in dead, stuck at 20V / 20mA. Suspected a short and found Q7040 shorted.

I replaced it with one from a donor A2159 board, and the machine powered on fine—working and charging. But soon after, Q7040 overheated and failed again. Tried replacing it once more, but the same issue—keeps failing repeatedly.

I’ve checked around and don’t see any other faults.
👉 Do I need to replace both transistors together, or am I missing something else here?
Exactly same issuue as i had in another machine.

Appreciate any insights 🙏
