MacBook Pro / Model A2141 / Board 820-02037-06 / 20v 3.23a / Water Damage.

Hey guys,

We have guys we have a A2141 MacBook pro that has been damage by water, it uses 20v and 3.23a but has no chime, the screen shows no activity, but, the fans spin up and spin down and the cap lock lights up when pressing it.

Would you guys have an idea regarding the issue that is causing this?

Did you test external video?

Check diode mode to ground at pins 1 & 3 of J8500.

Hey guys we have an update, the MacBook now chimes, fans spin continuously, caps lock works, and we have usb activity.

Despite all of that we still do not have and activity on the screen, we tried to connect an external display and we have no activity.

Any idea what could be causing the problem and what our next step should be?

Yes we had a working donor. We put PCB on working donor and it the same thing. Look like it does not give any video output. What might be the issue?

Can you tell me where is J8500? Thank you

lets the hypothetically, if there is damage to the GPU would the mac book still chime and would the fans spin?
How would we know if there is damage to the GPU specifically?

This board should chime even lifting GPU core coils.

Use 820-01700 schematic/boardview to locate J8500.
