I was hoping to get some advice on sourcing donor boards. It seems like it's aliexpress or ebay. Seems like they all get walked here from china and the rare sellers that have them in the west charge significantly more. Any advice on getting boards?
Other than being lucky enough to get some wrecked chassis units locally, you're going to have to just stock up when you can. At least you can usually transplant parts across multiple boards if you have the boardview/schematic handy and find the same values.
Ali or Ebay. I usually order a few of each for the garbage pile. For me they usually arrive in 2 weeks which is fine for me, got most boards in my junk pile already. You just have to get a few of each in stock and not order when you need them.
Also once machines start coming in/out you will acquire unfixable boards too for parts.
