There is a big chance that U7000 is dead, SMC is dead and something else, but lets start with pp3v42_g3h...

Resistance to GND?

Rermove L6995 and check in which side is the short, my bet is SMC dead, U7000 dead, R6990 open, U6990 dead....

and how come r6990 need to be replaced even though it shows 16.8v and ohms are only within 5% tolerance

ok so after injecting 3V i found L6400 heating mega.
now after removing i wanted to make sure the short on pp3v42 is not short to ground so i test pin 2 L6995 and no beep so its all good. I replaced L6400 and again short. So i removed and check the other end of L6400 which continues as PP_AUDIO_CHS and its short?

what am i doing wrong? could there be multiple shorts to ground OR L6400 is faulty OR something else?

just another question, with ISL6259 is there a difference between i6259AHRTZ & i6259HRTZ?

Nope same chip. Is 3v42 now 3.42 volts? If so, I’d say check resistance to ground on PPBUS and see what you get.
