hi, why is the multimeter used in diode mode with the red probe at GND and the black probe on the components.
is impedance measured? for what? what are the reference values? thanks.

Protection diodes are connected with anode at ground.
You want to read such diode in direct conduction.
These diodes are embedded in the ICs.

Strong power rails will have very low values, then ohm scale is preffered.
As the diode conduction is irrelevent in such case.
