a1466 Powering issue

A1466 2017 MODEL POWERS UP BUT LIKE IT NEEDS CHARGER PUT IN THEN NO POWER TAKE CHARGER OUT AND BACK IN POWERS UP

BUT I DID NOTICE 2 CAPS ON PPBUS_S5_HS_COMPUTING WHEN DOES NOT POWER UP VOLTAGE DROPPING C7323+C7324 BUT OTHER CAPS WHICH ARE PPBUS_S5_HS ARE FIXED AT LIKE 8.29V

The machine turns on with battery alone?
It turns of when you connect charger?
What is EXACT PPBUS_G3H voltage with charger alone (no battery)?

Seems with no battery
Like when charger is plugged in doesn't power up
But if you take it out an put back in powers up


Seems like needs a kickstart

Are you using original Magsafe 2 charger?
This machine must turn on automatically when charger is plugged in, if no battery connected.
With battery in place, need to press the power button.

Do you always get amber light on Magsafe?
Even when doesn't turn on?
What is PPBUS_G3H voltage in such case?

yes original charger

Light comes on either time but when put in say 1st time in the day fan no spin
Don't know if its any connection
but PP5V_S4RS3 when fan doesnt spin has 0v
When take magsafe and replace it back is 5v

Seems like something needs to be charged up first

Hi i will check tomorrow but im sure thats the fuse even when doesnt turn on that is 8. something volts
I'm just wondering if its a bad cap somewhere

Exact PPBUS_G3H voltage is very important.
8.2/3V and 8.5/6V is totally different thing!

That's normal.

PPBUS_G3H drops to 8.3V when machine doesn't want to turn on?
Check SMC_RESET_L level then.

hI 3.33v and by using the meter probe on 5pin u5110 which is smc_reset fan started spinning

8.5v on that
even with no power up
if i use meter probe between gnd & smc reset pin 5 starts everytime

Change R5100; you can force it with 10-47K.
Inspect J6100 for corrosion; clean, or even remove it, if needed.

Hi when it doesnt power up if i put a 47k accross it fan powers up
So im guessing the 100k is a little low reads around 88k
