ok I managed to install big sur by connecting to a different WiFi and I had to issue Terminal commands to start the installation from USB as the recovery procedure hanged. All good now.
ok thanks! Il check it out although I think its trolling me as I tried again earlier and got error 2002f... is this different? apologies for the bombardment of questions.
I flashed it in DFU choosing restore and it came back to life but internet recovery gives error 2003 and the laptop apparently is locked for USB booting.. any suggestions?
Hi guys,
820-01700 was LD near left hinge (as seen normally) and it is missing pp3v3_s5 but line has a diode mode of 0.330
The issue seems identical to this thread: https://boards.rossmanngroup.com/threads/820-01700-20v-0-03-amps.61049/
Other voltages look good and board is very clean.
Any...
ok now that schematics are out the shorted signal (pad48) of U3100_X was I2C_UPC_X_INTM_L which routes to pad10 of U2800_X (intel tb retimer).. when I removed U2800 the short cleared but I see that this IC is on two data buses (as shown in pic) - could this lead to T2 damage? --there were no...
OK I used the thermal camera to detect the partial short of 0.09A of pad 48. It was the Intel Retimer JHL8040R (every CD3217 has one JHL8040R companion), and when removed the short cleared. I soldered back the second CD3217 (good one) I removed at the beginning to take comparison measurements...
I used 820-01700 as a reference exactly because it has CD3217s - I didn't know TBT_T_CIO_PWR_EN is firmware depended but I assumed its the same in all motherboards that use that chip.
Question is if this signal is shorted on one CD3217 does that mean that the PCH or something else on that line...
there is no image I believe but I think you cant really verify this on these LCDs with a flash light right? BKLT voltage at 55V. And unfortunately no spare LCD as these are hard to get by even damaged ones.
Hi guys,
little water damage at CD3217 closest to the hall sensor on the side where there are 2x CD3217s together.
Cleaned and removed the chip to find out that 3rd ball from the top left (ball 48?) is short to ground (had to remove the other CD3217 to double check although I could also see...
Hi guys,
I do not do iMacs (not very often at least) but this one belongs to a really nice customer and want to give it a try.
High fan speed and the photo is from the temp sensors... I checked for missing thermal sensors (like Q5670 etc) but they are all there.. could it be U5650?
Thanks...
