I did some reading to figure out what I needed to swap, and it looked like I needed to change U2890. Doing so did not fix the issue, I tried with every board I pulled the CD3217 off of.
The only information I have is that the device stopped charging. I also have not done that. Is there a resource you could recommend to guide me through the process?
I have an A2289 that I am working on that came in for data recovery. I plugged in the MacBook and it was charging at 5v at .28a, so pulled out a donor board and swapped out the chips on both sides. Issue did not resolve itself, so pulled them off a different board and tried again, still no...
Ok, thanks for the info. I will see what I can figure out. Is there a cheatsheet or something that shows what ICs need programmed if new so I know to pull them off a donor board and I don't run into this again?
Edit: Also, is there a good place to pick up donor boards other than eBay?
No, I didn't see anything stating they needed to be programmed before use. I used the only exact-match donor board I had when I did my last repair and it seemed to work just fine, so that along with no notation when I ordered led me to believe it was a simple swap. Does the donor board need to...
Greetings,
I have a MacBook I am looking at that is stuck at 5v. I just had the same board in with the same issue a couple of weeks ago, so I checked around the CD3217 ICs and found a short on C3208 (PP3V3_UPC_XB_LDO), so I removed the CD3217 IC and found the short was removed. I proceeded to...
I recently had a MacBook Pro do the same thing, and it was the USB-C Controller. For your model, I believe it is the CD3217B12 IC. There should be two, and both should be replaced if that is the issue. I would check around there.
Greetings!
I have a MacBook that does not want to power on and is cycling total charging wats from 1W up to 10W and then it resets and starts the whole process over again. I have replaced the entire bottom case assembly with a known good to ensure there were no issues on the parts side, and the...
The issue resolved itself after I replaced the trackpad. My best guess is it was damaged when the last shop initially replaced the battery. Thanks for the info! Did not know the trackpad was required.
Ok, so I know this has taken some time, but I am back again, this time with more info. I tried to restore from DFU mode but was unsuccessful. The customer requested a new motherboard, so we ordered one. Came in, did not work. We sent it back and ordered a new one, same issue. We tried replacing...
PPBUS_G3H starts at 10.3ish volts when it starts charging and goes up to 10.9-11v at its peak while stair-step charging occurs through the charging port. When the stair step charging resets, it will jump to 12.5-13v on PPBUS_G3H and then drop back down to 10.3ish volts and start the process over...
