For $29/mo, we provide access to advanced level technicians who will answer your questions on any Macbook board related matter to the best of their knowledge promptly & walk you through how to solve your problem so you can deliver a working board to your customer.
I was going to write a very long response but would just say that: business plan + funding + R&D! If you have a business plan that justifies the cost, and enough funding the get the right machinery and acquire the needed skill (R&D), sure why not.
To do it manually you need to afford a lot of...
Like Louis said, the major challenge is transferring more than one chip, and the toughest of all is transferring the CPU without shorting something like the RAM during soldering onto the target board. Good luck with that.
Have a 13" MBP 820-2936 with short to ground on PP3V42_G3H and obviously no orange - nor green light.
I connected a charger and got no signs of heat.
So I followed the short and mis-diagnosed and removed the SMC but the short remained. Before re-installing the SMC, can I inject 3V42 on the line...
Aprendiz, thanks for the insight, but I think it stays on without anything attached because the power draw from HDD, optical drive, and backlight is more than what "it" can supply.
Run long or for ever without anything attached > with LCD > LCD + optical drive > LCD + optical drive + HDD (the...
:( too late?! Went back to try this, plugged it in before connecting the MiniDisplay Port, and it would only quarter spin.
Green light on charger. Tested again current sense resistors, they are OK. L6995 has 3.47V. Pin 2 of U7000 has 16.55V. F7040 has 12.58V. But only very slight quarter fan...
I asked about using a MagSafe 2 board, with "MagSafe 1 to MagSafe 2 adapter" sold by Apple. Since this adapter has the edges, you can't mis-align the charger head and short anything.
As posted above, now current sense resistors are OK.
So I checked (I figured that I should look for PPBUS_G3H):
L7030: 12.6V in, 12.58V.
F7040: 12.58V in and out.
Isn't 12.58V enough? Now using an original 60W adapter, without anything connected fan spins to full speed and stays ON all the time.
I took a swing at Mac board repair because the cheapest alternative for retail clients from Apple is $450+Tax in my country, so I could ask for $250+; and to find a source of income other than from fixing iPhone boards which every shop on every street with a $50 heat gun claims to do. I sought...
Louis, can I use a MagSafe 2 board for a MagSafe 1 computer? I can then add to it a MagSafe 1 to MagSafe 2 adapter which will align the pins correctly for me... What do you think? Overthinking it? Or fool-proofing it?
OK back to this project. It had moved to the bottom of the pile, now back at it again.
I checked resistance and R7051 was > 150Ohm. Now my tech who was working on this told me that he replaced current sense resistors before and they would soon fail. It could be true because I don't think he'd...
(I would categorize diagnostic and similar softwares as tools to be used in general and board repair. Unless you start a new category for softwares and applications).
Here are some of the ones I use. If someone has other suggestions or any concerns about them, would love to hear it:
Quick...
I geared up towards iPhone/iPad repair originally. But everyone (every street has 2) in this corner of the world owns a $50 heat gun and calls himself a repair technician and reflows the PMIC to fix a blown b/l filter. So I migrated towards a service that: a/ no one is offering OR not reliably...
Branson EC, IPA 99,99%, laboratory grade distilled water. That's for cleaning and reworking boards.
I use Un-Du (VOC free) to remove MacBook Retina batteries, but specially for iPad batteries without need to torch them and Sumo-wrestle them out of the device.
iPhones and iPads need a systematic approach and then from experience you learn to look for common failures.
Depleting battery could be bad battery or bad U2 or short. You determine which it is by using a known good battery, measuring consumption during charging, measuring consumption from...
