Checking back in, I have not yet heard anything back from my customer about any issues. So I'd assume working fine still? It's for a doctors office so I know they are using it daily.
Update: Macbook ran overnight playing from iTunes library without issues. Came in and it was still powered on. Currently back to my youtube and dock magnification testing around.. probably gonna call it good and send it out though. If it comes back I will let yall know.
In the situation with the machine I have, it seems to happen when firefox is opened (usually playing a youtube video) and then there is graphical activity on the dock from the magnification feature.. a few swipes back and fourth with the cursor and it'd crash out. Tried that for about an hour on...
Yep same board 820-3662. Also I didn't use hot air duke, just my micropencil to connect the joints with fresh solder.. shouldn't have a large impact. So far I've been able to run migration assistant, complete an external drive restore, and an internal in-place software upgrade without problem. I...
Try retinning all the pads on U7200. I am currently experimenting with a board like this and after checking the chip at all 4 angels and making sure each joint was solid it seems to have stopped happening.. I am still testing however just figured it was worth putting out there for someone else...
Liquid damaged Air board with most corrosion being around SMC area. Ultrasonic cleaned that up very well. After cleaning had no light on the charger and no fans so I went ahead and proceeded to fix the onewire circuit which had both the 10k and 4.7k resistor blown. Light is back again but now...
I also had this problem last week. making sure a known-good battery was plugged in at the same time fixed the issue but it wouldnt work off of just the charger for some reason.
Wasn't corroded but one end was disconnected from the pad. Replaced anyways and its working again. Thanks! Do you mind a brief explanation as to how you were able to find out that was the culprit?
History of liquid damage. Cleaned and now we have a fan spin but no video. After a few seconds the fan speed starts to get a little faster. No beeps with RAM installed but also no beeps with RAM not installed. SMC and PRAM reset performed. Nothing replaced yet because I'm not sure where to start...
If I'm not mistaken this board has an issue where a component will occasionally get blown on the underside of the board that goes to the hard drive connector on top. Check page 41 in the schematics and do some troubleshooting from there.
I was also thinking LCD connector but sure enough, after removing L8300 there is a short on pin 1 and not 2 (That makes things a lot easier). Removed U8300 afterwards and no more short. Appreciate the help!
