    00840 5volts on both ports

I used a U2890 from an 820-00840-01 (whereas my board is 820-00840-A), will that make a difference? Diode mode to ground on 1v1 LDO is 0.453 on both CD3215s on the bad board. on a known-good one (also a 00840-A) it is 0.448, so this seems fine, right?

    00840 5volts on both ports

hey there, I am not the greatest with USBC boards, and this issue in particular drives me nuts everytime. Currently i have 2 boards showing this exact symptom: when charger is connected i get 5.17V (steady) on both ports, and 0Amps draw. PPBUS is missing (0V) and not shorted to ground, no...

ASD mod to run on newer Macs

Hi there, Has anyone tried modifying the ASD images to run on newer Macs? I remember seeing someone mention something about running ASD 3S162 on newer models? I managed to boot a 2015 15-inch off of 3s162 today by adding it's board-identifier into the ASD config files. (by the way, if anyone...

    00165 sms_int_l

anyone know what SMS_INT_L does? Just had a board that I was breaking my balls over, spending half a day figuring out why it was running painfully slow. Everything worked just fine, it's just that it booted awfully slow and had read-write-speeds at about 40% of what is normal. After giving it a...

Question about Medusa2 and "no chip found", etc.

In practice, I find, most boards that you need the Medusa for, are already past all the no-power troubleshooting/repairing. The boards you're connecting this to, usually need either a battery and charger connected or one of the two. Look at page 10 of the Medusa manual to see which model...

820-00165 not booting fully, tried practically everything.

Just an update for people reading this topic with similar issues Got an email from the customer that the MacBook Air suddenly decided to boot up fully (he sent me a photo of the login screen) This absolutely baffles me. have no clue what the issue was and will probably never know now.

820-00165 not booting fully, tried practically everything.

I might not have time for this.. but what would that eventually tell me? I mean, if it's about to be the iGPU (CPU) than i'm calling it quits

820-00165 not booting fully, tried practically everything.

My Google Fu is not good enough to find it on here so far, lots of dumps, but none clearly stated for 2017. I can try getting a dump from a fixed 2017 MacBook Air from the queue, flash it on this one and clean ME?

820-00165 not booting fully, tried practically everything.

Just to let you know, i installed the intel graphics drivers for ubuntu, and everything works properly. so i am now assuming its a RAM issue? Weird that it works perfectly on Ubuntu..

820-00165 not booting fully, tried practically everything.

ok, so that would basicaly tell me if the intel gpu is defective right? what else could it be at this point..? I mean, i dont have a lot of time to start fiddling with ubuntu-drivers and such, and basically this is boiling down to either a bad cpu or integrated gpu right?

820-00840 no boot, but shows battery low symbol

Hi 2info, thanks for the bios dump. wrote it to the Mac, cleaned ME, same shit different day.. Hey duke, long time no see. If that's the case, i might try a RAM-reflow, or give up on it, spent too much time anyways.. what do you think?

820-00165 not booting fully, tried practically everything.

I am getting the strangest issues lately.. This MacBook Air 2017 is not booting; the loading bar takes a long time to fill up, and then it's stuck. In verbose mode, it stops and waits for the iGPU apparently: keeps repeating this line every 60seconds: busy timeout[0], (60s): 'IGPU' busy...

820-00840 no boot, but shows battery low symbol

I'm completely with you on cursing these machines.. I've tested with both J4401 and J4402 disconnected (those are for touch and display of touchbar right?), seems to load faster, but now kernelpanics while loading High Sierra. (without leaving a fucking log, whats up with that) In verbose boot...

820-00840 no boot, but shows battery low symbol

God, i mixed up the boardnumber with another one here, sorry. The actual board is a 820-00281-01. Had to step away from this one for a couple of days. I have now managed to get it to boot into an external Mojave installer after cleaning the ME region with Medusa2. It will let me format the...

820-00840 no boot, but shows battery low symbol

Have an 00840 that has had no liquid damage, board looks like new. With the board out, nothing connected, it takes 20V at around .6Amps for the first 10 seconds, then shuts off. In those 10 seconds or so, if I have it in the housing, It shows a battery-low symbol, sounds the charging-chime, and...
