A2141 with Service Recommended on battery. I replaced with new battery, Took a full charge yet next day when I checked it - still reported recommend service even though at 100%. charge. Chose restart and came up fine (but same warning). Thinking it might be something else causing warning I decided to just restart and run Diagnostic with just D key. I did not get that far 1) The system shut down abruptly on its own. 2) Unresponsive after that. 3)SMC has no affect and of course cannot do PRAM reset as it does nothing. A dang paperweight. 4) disconnected battery 5)flea power removal. 6)appears dead.
Sure did and also left it to charge overnight. No auto-start upon screen opening. No power button - regular. Or to remove flea power nor any other reset function.
It was busy doing a time machine backup to an old spinning HDD. So now I can move forward without losing data! Yes with DFU it turned on! Thanks for that. Good advice. It turns on with lid opening and button, both.
Yes still the Battery service rec. Also without a battery it starts and still reports battery needing service. I thought it would indicate NO battery.
Cable is in place. zigzag cable with a white dot. New battery still says service recommended at the same time it indicates the charge as full at the moment. I will leave the Mac on for a couple hours without the charger and check if anything changes.
