Machine boots fine.
ASD says battery may not be charging correctly

FAN maxes out and stays there at 6800 rpm always
Installed Hardware monitor

Battery temps : 129 C in hardware monitor
The battery temps are the only temps that are high
all other temps normal

this is a water damaged air
I already:
replaced trackpad, trackpad flex cable
dc in board
flex cable for dc board

Other problems?
R6950 or D6950?

looking at page 44 sensors
It looks like the transistors like Q5830 are acting like sensors?
Q5810
Q5830
Q5860
seem to be battery monitor sensors/ddr sensors

I don't have another IO flex cable and the one I have is red on the water damage indicator
I'm going to get another one.

Yes the fan was running high without the battery connected.

OK new flex cable and DC in board.
Connected battery.
Boots to OS.

The 128C battery reading is gone.
but
Fan still at 6100 RPM-6300RPM
Machine seems a bit sluggish

temp_1.jpgtemp_2.jpg

The PECI SA sensor seems to flip between 0C and 38 C.

Next I will try to use a new trackpad. I used a known working trackpad.

Try clean ME BIOS.
You should find something posted on the forum.
Try it as is, do not change serial yet...

Well, I cleaned the ME region
Went well.

Boot up into Catalina but the Battery Temps are back up to 129 C in Hardware monitor
Fan : 6200

All other temps normal.

I had put in a known working used trackpad.

Maybe I will put in a brand new trackpad and see if that works.
The trackpad sensor may be flaky.

I feel I am close to fixing this one but the fan speed and the Battery temp reading is a persistent issue.

Yes I did
EFI diagnostics: no errors except for battery missing (unplugged)

I checked:

J4800 looks good
J9500 looks good

J4800
Diode voltage to ground
16: .71
17: .71

Now I'm wondering if I should just replace U5800 but CPU is on other side of board which makes me nervous.

U5810? <----- REPLACE because its on the sensor data line
I checked R5390/91 voltage diode to ground on pin 2: ~.51V both

I don't get a SMC error on diagnostics but thats my concern since nothing else I have tried is working and these sensor data lines
have no where else to go but the SMC.
